Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it important to have antibody testing done?

Antibody testing helps provide an idea of your body’s immune response to the COVID-19 virus. Depending on your testing outcome, your test result can provide information about whether you have had a prior COVID-19 infection. If it is found that you do have antibodies to COVID-19, this may indicate that you have developed potential protection against reinfection. However, there is insufficient data at this time to say if you could be re-infected with the virus.

What is an antibody?

Antibodies are developed in the body as a part of your body’s natural response to a foreign virus.

Do all patients that have had COVID-19 develop antibodies?

Most people that are exposed to the virus will create antibodies. Patients that are immunocompromised may not develop antibodies as easily. If you are tested too soon after having a COVID-19 infection, your results may not be accurate.

What does it mean to have a positive antibody test?

A positive result indicates that you have developed antibodies to COVID-19. This suggests that you have had prior exposure to the virus.

What does it mean to have a negative antibody test?

This means that you have not yet produced antibodies to COVID-19 which could mean you have not been exposed to the virus or have not had the opportunity to develop antibodies due to recent exposure.

How much does it cost to have a COVID antibody test at Clinical Endpoints?

Clinical Endpoints charges a $150 collection fee to obtain and send your samples to the lab. If you have insurance, your insurance information will be submitted with your sample to cover the cost of the test. If you do not have insurance, you will pay $210 total and collection fee.
